The “Galileo argument” against the Catholic Church

The argument of Galileo stinks already.

The Catholic Church proceeded in relation to Galileo in the correct scientific way, because Galileo did not present his thesis as an hypothesis — as Copernicus did! Copernicus presented his thesis as an hypothesis and was NOT censored by the Catholic Church! Galileo did not want to formulate his thesis as an hypothesis, but instead affirming it as an absolute truth at a time that the hypothesis of Ptolemy could BETTER explain many celestial phenomena.

In a modern perspective, the Catholic Church at that time defended the most modern scientific conception, although was wrong about the Ptolemy theory. Defending a scientific paradigm is rejecting another (Thomas Kuhn).
